The Monterey area really loves Domino’s Pizza. They proved it on opening day by breaking opening day sales records for the franchise.

“The response has been overwhelming,” owner Jon Powers said. “And we are so grateful for it. The community of Monterey has shown up big time! We actually had the largest grand opening that we have had in nine store openings to date!”

Powers and wife, Danielle, are not new to the pizza business. Originally from Kingsport, TN, they opened their first Domino’s Pizza location in Sparta, where they reside. Monterey is their tenth location.  In addition to Monterey, they own stores in Manchester, Dunlap, Livingston, Algood, Fairfield Glade, Smithville, two locations in Cookeville and Sparta.

“We have been very fortunate and blessed to have a great team for which none of it would have been possible,” Powers said. Adding to their “great team,” the Powers family has added to their family team.

The Monterey location is not just a quick business decision. Powers said he had been looking at the Monterey market for about five years. He just could not find the right location to make it happen. Good things come to those who wait. The right spot became available, and they quickly settled in.

The Monterey Domino’s Pizza is a carry-out and a delivery location. There is also a convenient pick-up window.

“The delivery area has been set for now, Powers explained, “to the folks we feel we can service in a timely manner. We pride ourselves in providing great food, a great value and doing it quicker than you ever thought possible. Our current delivery time from the time you place your order until it arrives at your door is around 20 minutes! That’s about 5 minutes faster than you can make a frozen pizza”

While Domino’s offers a are great pizza, they also offer hot subs, salads, chicken wings, delicious pastas, a ton of garlic cheesy bread sides and desserts along with delivering cold two liters and 20 oz Coke products.

If pizza is what you are looking for Powers challenges you to try a lot of interesting specialty pizzas that everyone needs to try.

“We have a Philly Cheese Steak pizza that is fantastic, a Grilled BBQ Chicken pizza and a Buffalo Chicken pizza that I would highly recommend. Powers recommended. “For veggie lovers, we have a great Pacific Veggie pizza along with a Spinach and Feta Pizza which is one of my families favorites! We also offer a Gluten Free crust!”

Brandon Dunnaway is the general manager at the Monterey location. He has been with the franchise for over five years and comes from the Cookeville North/TTU campus store. Dunaway has put his time in to take over his very own store.

“We are super excited to see all the great things Brandon accomplishes,” Powers said.

The supervisor of the Monterey location is Lisa Andrews, who is a longtime Monterey resident and has been with Domino’s Pizza for over 15 years. There is also a team of over 20 local residents that have been training in other locations for over seven weeks to settle into their home store in Monterey and they are doing great!

Domino’s Pizza has already made great connections with the local sports teams and organizations and say they look forward to being great partners in the town.

“Monterey Cultural Administrator Rafferty Cleary and Mayor Alex Garcia have both been great working with and I appreciate those guys a lot,” Powers stated. “Chris Landers has also been someone that has reached out and offered to lend a hand of support and I appreciate it greatly.”
