In today’s blog, I take a hard left, leave the interstate, and offer a subjective (homegrown) look at why Monterey is a great place to vacation or live. Let’s get started!

I grew up in Monterey.

I went to MHS and played baseball and basketball

throughout my time there.

I was in choir, did talent shows, and in general, immersed

myself in Monterey’s culture.

After highschool, I went to college at TTU, covered Monterey sports as a

journalist for the Herald-Citizen, and eventually served the city as an

insurance agent for five years.

Monterey was my home and, in many ways, it always will be.

For obvious reasons, I love it.

But, why should you, someone whose childhood didn’t

happen in the city, visit it, or even more importantly, call it home?

It’s simple, the people.

Beyond a thriving retail and dining scene, natural attractions, and exciting concerts, Monterey’s real allure is the citizens that call it home.

Flat tire? Someone (or, more likely, many someones) will help you out.

Need advice?

Pull up a chair at Los Agaves or Ben Anna’s and ask away.

People here are kind.

They’re warm.

They’re here on good days and bad, celebrations and losses. Real,

dependable community. People that care about you, your story, your past,

present,and future.

And, if you are considering a place to vacation, spend the

day, or build your dream home, I suggest Monterey, TN.

You won’t regret your time spent in this amazing city.
