Fall weather, a parade, local history, live music, what more could you ask for? Read on to find out why you DON’T want to miss Standing Stone Day in Monterey, TN October 8th!

For 43 years Monterey has hosted Standing Stone Day, a celebration of the community and the American Indians who previously called it home.

The festival gets its name from the remaining piece of a massive monolith that once existed just west of Monterey. The original structure is believed to have been crafted by the Mound Builders approximately 1,500 years ago.

While history is at its heart, the present is on full display at Standing Stone Day!

Vendors will begin selling handcrafted items and food at 8 am, a parade will pass through at 10 am, American Indian performances will take place starting at 11 am, and local band Caleb & Leann (currently being produced by Alan Jackson’s producer) will take the stage at 3 pm in historic Whitaker Park.

This annual event is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Monterey, its history, and the people who currently call it home.
