The Lake at Meadow Creek

Only five miles east of Monterey’s charming downtown on Hwy. 62, The Lake at Meadow Creek Park offers fishing and non-motorized boating opportunities. A favorite for kayakers, soak in the quiet of the 283-acre city park characterized with scenic beauty and wildlife watching opportunities. Hiking trails coming soon.

Monterey Lake

Located just outside of Monterey, this 29-acre lake offers fishermen a variety of fish including redear sunfish, bream, bluegill, perch, black bullhead and largemouth bass.

Holpp’s Lake

Holpp’s Pine Ridge Lake is a 185-acre, manmade lake that is open to the public for fishing and swimming. The lake is stocked by the state with bass, bream, catfish, redear and crappie. There are sandy beach areas for swimming and pavilions with picnic tables and charcoal grills. You can also bring your tent, camper or RV.

Calfkiller River

The Calfkiller River is a 42.4-mile-long stream that is a tributary of the Caney Fork River. It is part of the Cumberland, Ohio, and Mississippi watersheds. The river is believed to be named for a Cherokee chief who once lived in the area.

Falling Water River

This 46.8-mile river is ideal for fishing and floating. It empties into Center Hill Lake along the Caney Fork River and is noted for flowing over a series of waterfalls, culminating in the 136-foot Burgess Falls as it drops from the Highland Rim to the Nashville Basin.
